Phyllis HastySisters, Phyllis and Nancy Hasty have collaborated on a new project. Nancy who is an established NYC playwright has written a one-woman show for sister Phyllis, "On a Wing and a Prayer" The show is a musical tribute to WWII through the stories and experiences of their parents, relatives and friends who lived through this difficult time. As in all times of great tragedy music has reflected the drama, heartbreak and hope of the people. The music of the late 30s and 40s is some of the most enduring and beautiful of the century and its timeless quality continues to attract new fans of all ages.

"I have always been drawn to this romantic and melodic music-I love the torch style and the upbeat swing style, says Phyllis. While watching Phyllis perform the song A Sleep Lagoon at a cabaret performance in NYC, Nancy was inspired with the idea to create an entire 40s show for her sister Phyllis. "This is where I feel Phyllis really shines."

Phyllis and Nancy were working on the show in NYC Sept.5th-10th. Since the events of 9/11 the project has taken on an even deeper resonance, which has heightened their awareness of what their parents generation experienced.

The show is a blend of humor, nostalgia and patriotism in a theatrical setting with the added benefits of lighting, sound, dancers and the backing of two stellar talents-Bobby Lanz and Michael Thomas. Both are first rate performers and recording artists. Bobby has played with some of the greats in the music industry and traveled for years with his own Bobby Lanz Band. He is an accomplished songwriter and has written jingles that have been performed nationally. He also arranges all the music Ms. Hasty performs. Michael Thomas has been dubbed the rising star of the cool jazz horn players. He has recorded two cds of his unique original material. He plays with the passion and taste of a performer far beyond his young years. 'We am so grateful and blessed to have both Bobby and Michael be a part of this project."
